This pattern is dead easy!
Choose your yarn carefully, I find greys are always going to be fashionable but that is just my taste.
My last bit of advice is don't cheap out on the yarn, rub it in your face and check for itchiness, there is nothing more disappointing than an itchy scarf, it makes them feel cheated out of a present and you wasted your time because they will not be worn.
I am using king cole, super chunky (100%premium acrylic)for a size 10 needle, 1545 shade.
For a child I will do 10 sts across and for the older boys I am doing 15 sts across.
For the longer scarves I used 200gr of yarn (2 balls)
K-knit
P-purl
tip: slip the last stitch on to the other needle without knitting, this will give it a neat and professional finish.
row 1-knit
row 2- knit
row 3 -(k3,p2)repeat to the end of the row
row 4- (k2, p3)repeat to the end of the row
repeat rows 3 & 4 until you reach to the desired length.
knit last two rows and cast off.
